The following points should be taken into consideration
for planning school and classroom astronomy presentations.
- Taylor school programs to state education guidelines in each
state
- Limit school presentations to 20 minutes each, especially for
elementary grade students
- Consult with teachers to make sure any program you plan to present
will coordinate with in class lesson plans
- Parents are busy. Even if a child wishes to attend an evening
star party, parents may not have time.
- Utilize remote control telescopes located in night time locations
for live observing in classroom during day
- Use computer controlled, electronic imaging devices to project
real time images on screen for an entire classroom. (eAstronomy)
- Use online resources of astronomical images to simulate real
time observing
- Create realtime solar observing programs duing daylite hours
- Coordinate with local libraries, school and outreach agencies to create
astronomy presentations for school age children during summer vacation months.
